 Dax Air Show:

50 years l' Aviation Légère de l'Armée de Terre

Since we were in the area because of the Cognac air show, we decided to travel a few hundred kilometers further south to see what was going on at Dax. The French army celebrated their 50 years existence with an air show at their training base Dax, close to the Spanish border. On the internet we already learned about the presence of two Moroccan helicopters: a Puma and a Gazelle. Normally these are a very rare sight on this side of the Mediterranean. Reason enough for us to go down there.

When we reached to entrance we immediately noted how few people were visiting this show. Despite this, taking pictures of the displayed aircraft was difficult. At the static display the fences were placed very close to the aircraft which made photography nearly impossible. Some aircraft on the flight line were doable and the aircraft in the flying display were no problem at all. So on this page you will find the results of our one and a half hour presence on this small field.

Dax is home to training unit for new French army aviators. They operate with Gazelles, foreseen from large orange day glow squares.
