 Third DC-10 for the KLu

New aircraft arrived on 25 October

The latest acquisition of the Royal Netherlands Air Force arrived on 25 October 2004. It is a third DC-10 which will operate in addition to the two KDC-10 aircraft the KLu already owns. The aircraft will not be modified with a tank installation. It will just be used for passenger and cargo transports.

For the last 3 years the aircraft has been stored at Marana in Arizona. Today it departed from Marana to Tucson International to be filled up with fuel. From there it flew straight to Eindhoven for delivery to the KLu. It has a total of 82.000 hours on the clock.

The aircraft arrived in the colors of its former employer, United Airlines. Though the titles had been removed. It also wears a civil registration N1858U but will soon be reserialled to T-255. The DC-10 will be taken into a modification program and is not expected to be operational before the beginning of 2007. It will receive palletised seats which should make it easy to transform from freighter to passanger configuration.
