Still no T-1's
When
leaving the hotel, the owner was surprised to see us coming out of
a single room with the five of us :-) We still had to pay him of
course and after doing so Fred, Mo and Arnold went to the visitors
center to see if the T-1's were already dragged out this appeared
not to be the case and as it did not look like it would work out
today we headed for Gifu to try our luck over there.
We were at Gifu less then an hour later (to prove that Iwan Bögels
is always exaggerating when calculating distances and lap times)
but did not have a real good spot because the aircraft were flying
in the wrong direction. At least that is what we thought but then
it appeared to be otherwise. So we headed for the right place on
the other runways end which we found pretty soon with some luck.
When we arrived we already saw some photographers running into the
fields and we were just in time to take some great shots of a T-2
and a Phantom coming in. Soon after that, an F-2, some T-4's, an
F-15 arrived as well. A
FST-2, with its remarkable orange tail
departed and returned an hour later just when the sun broke
through a cloud.
During the lunch break we made a visit to the museum where Arnold
did a quick tour and the rest of the group were waiting outside.
We also tried to find a good spot to get an overview of the
airfield but we were not able to find it. Also paid a quick visit
to a 7-11 for the usual lunch. When the next mission was flying
again we returned to the "landing spot" where we could make some
more pictures. An Orion in its new colour scheme came in and also
an F-2 in a red and white colour scheme.
Later that day, the sun went away behind the clouds and we decided
to leave for Hyakuri. It was quite a drive and still with th lack
of GPS it was a bit hard to find the right spot. But around
midnight we found it and set up the tent in the rain.
Damn...
Would the weather forecast be right then…
