KDC-10 and Alouette 3 wearing new colors
The
Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Netherlands Air Force) introduced new
color schemes for two of its aircraft types. First is the Alouette III
which is mainly in use for VIP flights. For them it is not necessary to
fly in green/black camouflaged patterns anymore. Therefore the air force
decided to give them a more appropriate glossy blue paint. Remarkable is
the orange band around the roundel, giving it a more 'Royal' touch. The
Alouette is often tasked for royal flights.
The
KDC-10 on the other hand deals more and more with missions into crisis
theaters. For them the glossy airliner like colors are not always
useful. That's why the air force decided to put more grey in service...
However, we think the air force did a nice job with these colors.
Striking are the large titles 'Koninklijke Luchtmacht' with the
small translation 'Royal Netherlands Air Force' below.
On
more type will reveal new colors soon. The PC-7 flight based at
Woensdrecht will receive an all black color scheme, just like the Royal
Air Force trainers have.
