Jordanian F-16s leave Belgium:

Early photocall at Kleine Brogel

On Wednesday 10 September 2008 the first 4 F-16s destined for the Jordanian Air Force left Kleine Brogel Air Base in Belgium. These are the first of a total number of 24 following a deal between Jordan and the governments of Belgium and The Netherlands. Of these 24 aircraft, 16 will be provided by Belgium, the rest is Dutch.

On these occasions the people from 'KB' never forget the aviation enthusiast community. This time we were welcome again. But wow, it was early! The photocall started off at 7 AM! When we arrived at the main gate at 06:45, it was still dark! Quite a challenge since we are not equipped with night vision camera's. About one hour later it became somewhat light, though it remained overcast.

Although four aircraft were meant to depart, a total of five were sitting at the tarmac. The fifth one appeared to be a spare aircraft. After figuring out the Arabian digits, we found out the new Jordanian serials tying up their previous Belgian ones:

138  F-16BM  ex FB-04
139  F-16BM  ex FB-08
140  F-16AM  ex FA-58
142  F-16AM  ex FA-61
145  F-16AM  ex FA-73
The latter being the spare aircraft which was left behind at Kleine Brogel

Again a big thank you goes out to the Belgian Air Force for inviting us again. We have one request though: if you consider inviting us again for the next delivery, why not around 11 o'clock or so J
